We’re certainly not the first to recognise the shortfall of venture capital deployed globally to fund female founders
In 2014, $2.2B or 2% of venture capital dollars went towards female-founded companies. Five years later in 2019, 2.7% of venture capital dollars went towards companies with female entrepreneurs. That’s $3.54B out of $110B invested globally. Yet women start businesses at a rate 1.5x higher than the national average and dominate the workforce holding 56% of professional jobs.
In 2015, First Round Capital’s 10 Year Review showed companies with female founders on the founding team perform 63% better than those with only male founders. McKinsey & Co’s 2018 study shows companies in the top quartile for ethnic diversity are 21% more likely to experience above average profits. It’s now widely published that diverse companies led by women typically drive stronger market returns.

At Shepreneur we understand that every venture has its own needs and faces its own set of challenges. And whilst most challenges are not new in startup world, how each entrepreneur manages will greatly depend on their experience as a founder and their support structure.
Our team of advisors have been entrenched in the startup world for decades. They’ve lived and breathed being founders themselves and know only too well the frustrations that you encounter and the mistakes that will be made. That’s why we’ve created Shepreneur Coach, our coaching and advisory service where we tailor each package to suit your individual and team requirements.

We don’t just provide advice and coaching, we become your trusted partner, an extension of your team working together to celebrate the ups and hold your hand through the frustrations. Revenue Financing or Equity Share, what does it mean and which option is right for you?
Navigating a capital raise, understanding the jargon and deciphering the options can be a full time job. A job that a founder generally doesn’t have time to focus on and doesn’t necessarily understand. It’s vitally important to get it right.
At Shepreneur, the first question we will always ask is, “do you actually need to raise and why?”. Because too often we see female founders and female led ventures coming to us looking for large sums of investment but not truly understanding why they need to raise or where the funds should be deployed.
We make the process simple. We engage as your success partner to fully understand the problem you are trying to solve and then learn how we can help you solve it. We offer a number of different investment options and most importantly, we work together to discover which one is right for you, if any at all!

Working towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) together will have a greater impact.
“Gender equality is a right. Fulfilling this right is the best chance we have in meeting some of the most pressing challenges of our time—from economic crisis and lack of health care, to climate change, violence against women and escalating conflicts.
Women are not only more affected by these problems, but also possess ideas and leadership to solve them. The gender discrimination still holding too many women back, holds our world back too.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by world leaders in 2015, embody a roadmap for progress that is sustainable and leaves no one behind.
Achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment is integral to each of the 17 goals. Only by ensuring the rights of women and girls across all the goals will we get to justice and inclusion, economies that work for all, and sustaining our shared environment now and for future generations.”
